Melvin Nelson is President & CEO of Executive Management Systems.

In his 25 years of corporate leadership, Mel’s accomplishments include:

• Facilitating strategic planning and marketing initiatives
• Creating corporate brand recognition
• Leading growth strategies
• Turning around an under-performing organization
• Driving new business development
• Directing media and public relations activities during natural disasters and controversial events
• Producing numerous award-winning marketing/advertising campaigns
• Managing a 24-staff-member energy control center
• Directing power system operations for a regional supplier with 12 cooperatives and 12 municipals serving 100,000 customers over 35,000 square miles
• Leading strategic planning to develop the Touchstone Energy brand
• Directing development of a world-renowned energy management program, including global research; Earning the Westinghouse Nikola Tesla Award

Mel lives in Fargo, North Dakota, with his wife, a professional educator. They have three sons and one daughter, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and four grandchildren. Mel’s active lifestyle includes swimming and bicycling, hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping trips and traveling with family and friends. He serves on the Board of Governors for Trinity Western University (Langley, BC), Canada’s largest non-profit university, and is chair of the Governance Committee.
